Abraham Lincoln on the Bible

Abraham Lincoln was born this day, February 12th, in 1809.

Lincoln’s words were originally published in the Washington Daily Morning Chronicle, Sep. 8th. The text and some background information are in the Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln. The Bible itself is in the library of Fisk University.

The photo is by Alexander Hesler, June 3, 1860, a couple of weeks after Lincoln had been nominated for president.
