Justice for David Daleiden

David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, investigative journalists with the Center for Medical Progress, are once again under attack by the justice system, this time in California.

As we know, Daleiden and Merritt had previously faced multiple charges, including in the state of Texas where charges were eventually dropped. In addition, the National Abortion Federation filed a lawsuit against him in an effort to gag the Center for Medical Progress and make it impossible for the organization to circulate its undercover videos. Katie Short of Life Legal Defense Foundation appeared before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in October of last year on behalf of David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress. Life Legal Defense Foundation continues to defend Daleiden and his work, as does Thomas Brejcha of the Thomas More Law Society. In fact, Life Legal Defense has launched a crowdfunding effort to help pay for the legal bills.

Though these nonprofit legal defense groups continue to need our financial and prayerful support, we must realize that there is a more sinister aspect to all of this which must be uncovered and understood. Even though “David’s work to expose Planned Parenthood’s hidden business of selling baby body parts shocked the nation,” that business continues nearly unabated. As Daleiden said: “It is a paradox that we can’t have laws that recognize unborn babies as human, and yet, it is their very humanness that makes them valuable for experimentation. . . . It is as if they [the biotech companies] are going on a treasure hunt for the heads or hearts of babies, but how much more valuable would those heads and hearts be if they were allowed to grow up and be a part of society?”

Therein lies the hypocrisy, the evil, and the very real sadistic side of a culture hell-bent on killing the innocent while using their tiny body parts to fill the coffers of biotech companies.

In a heart-wrenching open letter to Planned Parenthood, writer Emily Brandenburg states: “Instead of launching into a probe of the ‘ethical editing’ of the videographers, why don’t we investigate the ethical ramifications of dismembering aborted children for science? Instead of coining body parts ‘tissue,’ how about we call it what it really is—a child? Instead of placing value on a child’s body parts after an abortion, how about we place value on the child’s life?”

Alas, perhaps our culture has slipped so far down the wrong path that we are no longer capable of seeing that child and knowing that he is an individual human being whose contributions to society—were he allowed to live—could change our world for the better.

One wonders if we really care about others when self-interest is in play, be it for political, financial, or other reasons.

The shameless persecution of Daleiden and his collaborators is not designed to induce a just conclusion. Rather, the purpose is to shut down truth, no matter the cost.

As a staff writer for the National Review wrote:

Big Abortion holds the Democratic party in a vise grip, and it now may use that power to send a man to prison for embarrassing the nation’s largest abortion provider. Two young journalists may pay a steep price for doing work that the left admires—at least when reporters are protecting ducks and chickens. But babies in the womb? They only have the right to die.

Truer words were never written.

David and Sandra deserve to be heralded as heroic figures who are willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of preborn children who have no voice. Instead they are being railroaded by a corrupt system of laws and judges.

Pray for David and all of his coworkers. Pray that justice will be served. Pray that Planned Parenthood will be charged with countless killings of the preborn while all charges against those who defend innocent persons are dropped.

That is justice! That is what we seek in this matter today and every day.
