My God is with Me
The Lord my God is with me,
But I do not feel His breath.
His closeness does not warm me.
But I know, I believe He is near.
I trust He has not fled me,
In spite of my ways,
My sinfulness does not impede Him.
For “Forgiveness” is His name.
This is just one of those hours,
When consolation will elude us.
Not every moment,
Is on the mountain top.
We must cross the valley too.
It is the journey we take,
To walk in the footsteps of the Lord.
Sometimes in sorrow,
Sometimes in joy,
And sometimes in silence.
Today I find myself in the silence,
No word, no praise, no affirmation.
There is no sense of contact,
Alone is how I feel.
But I know it is not so.
My Rock is here, just quiet.
